What Makes Mercedes In A Class By Themselves

Mercedes Benz has been making some of the most appealing vehicles for
over one hundred years. And, during that time they have made the general
public fall in love with their beautiful and smart designs. But, a few
of their models have become more popular and collectible among some
groups of the population. Specifically the G-Class and of course the 300
turbo diesel. These design and genius engineering in these types of
cars have put them at the top of the list for many collectors.

There is something about Mercedes vehicles that put them in a class all
by themselves. This German company just keeps car enthusiasts on the
edge of their seat when it comes to new releases. But, what is even more
interesting and impressive is their resale value and their
collectibility. Most cars after 30 plus years are no longer relevant.
These cars, like fine wine, just seem to get better and better with age.

This is especially true for the G-Class cross country model. This is one
design that keeps car enthusiasts coming back for more. Originally
developed for the military the G-Class was released in 1979 in a
civilian version because of their huge popularity. The G-class or
G-wagon is Mercedes’ four wheel drive vehicle or SUV as some would call
it. This highly collectible vehicle has handsome boxy styling and a
unmistakable look about it. Many people comb used car ads just hoping to
find one of these gems. But, owners of these impressive specimens are
reluctant to let go of these because of how rare and beautiful these
cars are.

Another highly collectible Mercedes is the 300 turbo diesel. This design
came on the scene first in 1979 and continued throughout the eighties.
The 300 turbo diesel came in a variety of body styles, including a sedan
and station wagon. Typically these designs used a lot of chrome styling
on the body and around the windows. But, most impressively this model,
as it’s name implies uses diesel instead of gas; which is precisely the
one of the characteristics that makes it so highly collectible today.

Today 300 turbo diesels are prized among younger generations and are
considered by many to be the best cars ever made. Of course, this has a
lot to do with their styling, but even more so to do with the engines
inside. These vehicles’ engines are so ingenious that can drive for over
200,000 miles and keeping on ticking without any trouble whatsoever.
But, that is not the only reason why they are prized among the younger
generations.

Many people have taken to putting vegetable oil in their 300 turbo
diesels as a way to be more environmentally conscious and save a little
here and there. For some reason it seems this type of car is able to
take vegetable oil in the same way that it utilizes diesel. This may not
have been the original intention in 1979 when the car was designed, but
seems to make the car itself more popular and collectable than ever
today. This makes you think, which one of today’s Mercedes models will
be collectible in thirty years?
