Variations in Oil Change Frequency

The standard recommendation from industry professionals is every 3,000
miles. However, this is a basic standard that does not take much into
account. This is a standard for the sake of having a standard. You need
to figure out what the best maintenance schedule is for your car based
on a number of different factors including type of car, how you use your
car, and how old the car is.

Cars are made differently and perform at different levels. We not only
drive cars but trucks, vans, and sport utility vehicles. They are made
by dozens of different car companies around the world and, although much
of what’s under the hood is the same, a car engine design can range
from brand to brand and type to type. Usually, commercial vehicles have
more powerful engines to handle hauling, but even most luxury cars are
equipped with high performance engines. Economy cars have extremely
reliable engines but need regular oil changes for them to last as long
as they’re known for. Depending on what kind of car you have, intervals
between oil changes will vary.

Another important thing to consider is that your car is as unique as you
are. We have cars for commuting, traveling, and commercial vehicles
that work hard every day to provide the performance it is required to
handle. Your driving style and your lifestyle choices all contribute to
when you should regularly get an oil change. It may not even be a
regular pattern. If your life is constantly changing, you’ll have to be
aware of how that effects how often or how hard you drive. Some life
changes, like cross country moves, may also contribute to whether you
need an oil change sooner than expect.

Over the lifetime of your car, the frequency of oil changes will also
change. When you get a brand new car, those first fifty thousand miles
are the easiest you will have. Your car engine is new and, with regular
oil changes to prevent wear, your car will generally need less
attention. As your car ages, however, and you put more and more miles on
your engine, you may need to change the frequency of your oil changes
in order to continue to maintain your car properly.

If you’re concerned about engine performance, make sure you invest in a
car that has a long lasting and reliable engine. You can also meet with
your mechanic and have him check the quality of your oil before going
ahead with an oil change. You can also periodically check the oil of
your own car or truck too, especially in circumstances when your regular
routine changes or you have a short period of time that puts a lot of
strain on your car engine.
