Every motorist most likely knows how important an oil change is for the
wellbeing of his or her car. Most individuals have been taught from an
early age that if you regularly perform this one automotive task, your
vehicle will last years longer. Oil is like the lifeblood of a vehicle.
If its clean and filled up to the proper amount, the machinery will run
like a charm. If it runs low or gets dirty, this can create havoc
within the mechanical systems. Imagine not having enough blood in your
body or having it clogged up with crud. This actually does happen when
humans eat too many foods that contain saturated fats; it clogs the
works and a heart attack occurs. The equivalent in a car is a blown
engine, thrown rod or an early burial in the junkyard. There are now
synthetic and non-synthetic lubricants on the market and many drivers
are wondering which is preferable for their car. Here are some things to
think about:
- Synthetics are replacing non-synthetics: If you go to your local auto
supply store, youll notice more synthetic products being sold. If a
customer inquires about the pros and cons of each, he or she may get
conflicting answers:
- Artificial lubricant: These products are similar to petroleum but
contain manmade artificial components. These have different qualities
from crude oils raw natural ones, and it might affect your oil change.
- Early products ineffective: The early artificial lubricants had
swelling qualities that were different from natural products. These
early types caused leaking because seals shrank and a proper fit
disappeared due to the shrinkage. This difficulty has been resolved and
shouldnt occur with todays products.
- Mixing types: There are differing opinions on whether its acceptable
to go back and forth between artificial and natural products. This would
be a discussion a motorist may want to have with his or her mechanic.
- Semi-synthetic: There are lubricants on the market today that are a
blend of natural and artificial. These are known as semi-synthetics and
usually have a ratio of 70% mineral to 30% manmade.
- Pros: The artificial products are reported to evaporate less, promote
longer engine life, work better in extreme temperatures, improve fuel
efficiency, and be more environmentally friendly because they dont have
to be changed as often.
- Cons: They are not recommended for rotary engines, they may break down
certain types of plastic components, and some erratic decomposition has
been noted in certain situations.
Whether a person should use synthetic or non-synthetic lubricants in his
or her vehicle is still debated. Sometimes this will depend on the
brand and model of the car, the climate its driven in, how old it is
and what the history of oil change products has been. A wise consumer
will research all of the options and discuss it with his or her most
trustworthy mechanic. One fact that no one quibbles over is whether this
car maintenance task is necessary. Lubricants are the lifeblood of a
vehicle. Keeping them clean and filled up will ensure more road time for
the vehicle.

The Oil Change: What Happens When You Don't Do It?
When you get behind the wheel of your own car, you know that you have to
get an oil change every three to five thousand miles. Different models
have different recommendations as to when exactly you should get this
service performed, but it is always on some kind of regular basis. Few
car owners question this. After all, the service is fairly cheap, it
doesn't take a long time, and if the manual says it should be done, then
it should be done. But what happens when you don't? Since you probably
don't want to experiment with your own car to find out the
ramifications, here is a look at what can go wrong when you neglect to
follow this time-honored advice.
First, it's important to realize what role motor oil plays in your
engine. The engine is made up of many moving parts. Like any moving
machine, it requires lubrication so friction doesn't fry the whole
thing. An engine wouldn't last long if it didn't have any oil to run on.
Eventually, the heat inside the engine would grow so great that the
parts would actually begin to melt, which would put it beyond the point
of repair. This isn't just theoretical, of course. Many a car owner has
found themselves in this position thanks to an oil change gone wrong or a
leaky pan.
So why not just make sure oil stays in the engine? What good does it do
to take old lubrication out and replace it with new oil? Well, the oil
change serves an extremely important function. Over time, the motor oil
in your car begins to pick up particles. It becomes dirty. When this
happens, what was once a viscous, but very slick fluid becomes something
more akin to sludge. If the filter gets clogged, dirt and particles
accumulate even more quickly. This will begin to take a toll on your
engine, causing the speed of the pistons to slow and your engine's power
to decrease substantially.
Eventually, an engine filled with sludge will simply stop functioning.
This can happen early on in a car's life if it is not treated to a
regular oil change. Is it necessary to take your car in for a lube job
every 3,000 miles? Maybe, maybe not. Your car isn't going to seize up if
you stretch the time period between lube jobs another thousand miles,
but don't try to make it a year without bringing it into the shop. You
could find yourself facing a nasty surprise.

Finally, the perfect ride for the off roadies has arrived.
Yes, we are talking about the Mahindra Thar.
The Mahindra is equipped with a CRDe unit to get you of any
sticky terrain. The chassis has been grafted from the Scorpio with a Bolero
style back. The outside looks and back foot space is a chip off the MM540 with
lots of other bits from the Bolero as well.
The looks are really unique with a never seen before chunky
tyres, fiery wheel arches and a chrome bull bar. The Thar is surely a one of
its kind. However the insides still the same with the Bolero style dashboard,
steering and the window winders. Even the poor ergonomics are running with the
Thar as well. The low selector drive option, manual seat adjustment, and a non
AC all ensure that the Thar can be a testing place to be seated with more than
two passengers or for the long runs.
The Mahindra is simply strong with a torque of 25.18 kgm
enough to take over to new levels and even the steepest of climbs. The ground
clearance is a neat 200mm to bypass the most uneven disturbances along the
road. All this raw power is more than enough to conquer any slush, bump, steep
terrain but the presence of a limited slip differential or lockable front and
rear differentials would have made this the ultimate terrain beast.
The Thar hits the century speed mark without any effort at
all and 138 kph is just a patience away. With separate spring for the front and
back the Thar is not a wobbly - wobbly experience but still not quite stable at
high speeds. However the Thar rarely gives you bumps and is a tough rider on
any condition. The Thar 2489 cc engine, with 105 bhp is well covered there is
less noise with the MM 540 body.
This off road monster can also make up for a nice zigzag in
the city streets. The five speed manual transmission takes some practice to get
used to but is tough enough to take numerous bangings. It zips the 100 kmph in
just 17.05 sec and is easily zapped by the powerful brakes.
The Thar is not for the normal man. It is a raw beast but
misses the refinement. The cost of 5.99 lakh should also not be a spot of
bother. With the clear aim of being a rough rider, the Thar knows its USP in
spite of a few flaws.
What you'll like in the new Mahindra Thar:
Raw
jeeping. Rugged style and looks
Powerful
engine, transmission and body
Top power

Zippy
ride control for zigzag in the streets
What you won't like in the New Mahindra Thar:
Low

High
maintenance cost
Poor

Title: How Can I Purchase Cheap New ATV Parts
You would be thinking that why should you waste all
that amount of money on parts that are not even visible. Well it is
true these parts would be mostly not visible and second hand parts are
well within the reach of everyone. Still you must always install brand
new performance parts to your ATV. This article will explain to you the
different ways of saving money on brand new parts.
The very first way would be to go to a whole sale shop and purchase ATV parts.
That would involve you in having quite a number of these parts. You
need not to worry about that, just stock them up. Most of the
performance parts like the brake shoes and shocks wear off by time. Once
these parts are not in a good condition, you simply would have to go to
your garage to get the new stocked up parts. If you dont want to stock
such a number of parts then sell them. The best place to put them on
sale would be the internet. Just go and look at the number of offers on
eBay. People purchase these parts from the whole sale and put them up
for sale over the internet. Be sure to set such a price that you dont
go in loss.
The second method is to simply go over to eBay and purchase parts.
People who purchase parts from a whole sale shop have to pay less per
part. This way the price set by these people on eBay is more than the
whole sale shop but less than the price of a single brand new part.
There are many other ways of purchasing brand new ATV parts. For further
information it would be best that you go online.
