Automotive Air Bag Testing Instruments

Automotive air bag testing is a efficient guarantee for more accurate, reactive and reliable performance of air bag. Air bag is one of the passive protection systems for automotives, which is directly linked to passenger safety.
According to traffic accident analysis, two thirds of car crush accidents are happening in front of cars; therefore, front air bag system is more broadly applied.
In order to have better performance, air bag design, development and manufacture are all very important. The contents are as follows:
1. Automotive Air Bag Permeation Testing
The material of automotive air bag is a laminated film of rubber and nylon. Air bag is filled with helium when working.
The rapid filling of air bag is of great importance. It is a must for the passenger to be stopped by the fast filled bag which can also exhaust promptly. Therefore, excellent and proper permeation performance of air bag is very important.
Labthink DM 2/330 Differential and Equal Pressure Method Gas Permeability Tester can test film and laminated materials including air bag laminated material. This tester can execute differential pressure and equal pressure in the same chamber. Three specimens can be tested simultaneously in 3 chambers. Poisonous, explosive and other gases can be tested as well. The temperature control range is 5C-95C, which is very convenient to test the permeability performance of airbag during storage and when triggered by heat.
2. Automotive Air Bag Smoothness and Open Easiness Tests
Good smoothness and open easiness of automotive air bag are vital to backup air bags and quick reaction when the passenger is in danger. The material of air bag is rubber coated nylon. In order to test air bag smoothness and open easiness, Labthink Instruments Co. Ltd introduces airbag testers as follows:
A. MXD Series of Coefficient of Friction Tester is applicable in static and kinetic coefficient of friction test to plastic film, foils, sheets and paper. Through testing the smoothness of the materials, airbag safety can be guaranteed to meet the demands. This series of products includes MXD-01, MXD-01A and MXD-02.
B. FTP-F1 Friction/Peel Tester: is computer control, and can test the material coefficient of friction between room temperature and 99.9 Centigrade as well as peeling strength of laminated films and adhesive products, which is very important to air bag testing.
3. Automotive Air Bag Tensile Testing and Impact Testing
Automotive air bag receives the signal from the sensor, and turns open within a few seconds so as to protect passenger. Since the open speed to its full is in a limited time of 0.3 seconds so as to resist shock and attack from the outside. Therefore, it is a must for air bag with good tensile performance.
In order to guarantee excellent tensile performance, Labthink Instruments Co. Ltd. introduces new series of tensile and impact testers according to international regulations and standards.
A. Labthink PARAM XLW Series Auto Tensile Testers can test tensile, deformation, tearing, pierce, peeling and other items for films, laminated films and flexible packaging materials, etc. Put the air bag specimen onto the clamps, set the testing speed and start testing.
B. Automotive Air Bag Impact Resistance Testing
At the very moment of air bag opening, it will make a space to release the forward strength of the passenger. Air bag impact performance control can prevent air bag breakage due to low flexibility so as to effectively avoid protection failure of low air bag quality. Usually, impact is tested with falling dart impact tester.
Labthink introduces new BMC-B1 Falling Dart Impact Tester to test air bag impact resistance by falling dart method. It is to test the relevant strength needed to tear the air bag material according to ASTM D 1709, JIS K 7124 and GB 9639, etc. The whole testing process is automatic; testing data are processed by minicomputer.
4. Automotive Air Bag Seal and Leak Testing Instruments
Automotive air bag should be filled instantly by the burning helium when the sensor got the emergency signal. Therefore, automotive air bag integrated seal and leak testing is an important index for automotive air bag quality. Labthink Instruments Co., Ltd. introduces PARAM Leak Tester to test air bag seal and leak performance.
Labthink PARAM MFY-01 Leak Tester determines whether the air bag meets the requirements through observation of emerged air bag in distilled water with inside-out pressure difference. This tester is of simple operation and micro-computer control. It complies with ASTM D3078 and GB/T 15171 and provides accurate data.
5. Automotive Air Bag Peeling Testing Instruments
Automotive air bag is made up of the outer nylon material and the inner rubber. Owing to the long-term storage for emergency, a long period of aging, good peeling resistance strength of the nylon and rubber layers is very important so as to avoid insufficient gas filling caused by rubber layer peeling.
Labthink Instruments Co. Ltd. introduces PARAM XLW series of auto tensile testers so as to meet the testing demand for air bag peeling. This tester is applicable to test tensile, peeling, deformation, tearing and adhesive strength of laminated films and adhesive tapes. PARAM XLW Series Auto Tensile Testers are mini-computer control, and can test multiple data with reliable and accurate results. These testers are equipped with professional software. Also, they are complying with ASTM, ISO, JIS and GB standards.

Mercedes - Adding Custom Features

A brand-new 2012 Mercedes sedan starts at under $40,000. This base price comes with several standard features including anti-lock brakes, keyless entry, leather seats, and a slide sunroof. These standard options are perfect for many consumers, keeping the price of their new car well below the price of other luxury vehicles. However, Mercedes offers many different optional features that are well worth the price. Although it may cost a little more to add some of these features, many consumers will find that adding them is a great value, especially since adding them aftermarket can be very expensive. In fact, some options for custom features such as the interior paneling or exterior paint are available only through the manufacturer. For instance, the paint used for the exterior is a different quality because the paint has more of a metallic sheen, unlike other manufacturers. Furthermore, customizing the interior aftermarket will be more expensive, especially if you would like to change the colors of the seats or paneling. Doing so would require leaving the vehicle at an auto body shop and paying hundreds of dollars in labor costs. While it is unlikely that most consumers will go to these lengths in order to customize their Mercedes, adding these personal touches is quite a reward, especially if the base price is affordable. Mercedes-Benz offers many vehicle customizations a la carte, meaning the buyer can hand pick exactly which features they would like in their new car. However, the manufacturer also offers some optional features in a package, which helps to save time in choosing some of the most popular features. The premium package is one such option. Some of the features in this package include auto-dimming mirrors and satellite radio. This package also includes safety and convenience features such as rain sensing windshield wipers, a garage door opener, and a compass display. The multimedia package is another popular options package. Many consumers opt for this package because it offers enhanced voice control, iPod media interface, and a media database. Surprisingly, these packages are also inexpensive: adding both would cost less than $5,000. Customizing a new Mercedes is very affordable. In fact, choosing the right custom features adds more value to the price of a brand new vehicle.

BMW-- New Electric Concept For 2013

Electric or plug in cars have been the talk of the town ever since reports of global warming and lowering our reliance on fossil fuels has become the norm. However, some would say it is all talk and no walk; or more precisely no new electric cars. Seriously, with all the talk about breaking our addiction to fossil fuels very few car companies have actually produced cars that are sustainable. Thus far, Honda and Toyota seem to be the leading car companies paving the way to the fossil fuel free car. But, even with the beautiful designs that these electric cars, Honda Insight and the Toyota Prius offer, people still have an appetite for a new concept and more choices.BMW is satisfying the consumer’s appetite for a new sustainable vehicle for the green times we live in, but also for the way people live. BMW’s new electric car, called the i3 Concept is being sold as the new “urban mobility”. The new innovations in the car world are all about pleasing the driver, the passenger, and the environment. And, since this company is known for it’s high performance engines and superior styling it is about time they got into the race. The i3 Concept looks like it is from the future. And it kind of is, since it will not be available for purchase until 2013. With it’s super sleek design and glass panel doors this car is not your old BMW for 1980. Oh no. This car looks like it is ready for the race into the future. Black or tinted all glass doors make this vehicle stand out in front of the rest. However, even though all these new futuristic features have been added, this car still retains all the reliability, safety, and luxury driven standards that have always applied with this car company. The BMW i3 Concept boasts a generous space for both driver and passenger alike. Of course, this car maker always keeps in mind that a car needs to have sufficient space for long distance travel, and look good while racing down the highway. And, according to it’s specs it will get 80 to 100 miles on a full charge, with speeds reaching 93 miles an hour. This vehicle has been designed to be comfortable for long car trips, but also light enough to be efficient and effective as an electric car. Of course this city car is not intended for cross country travel, unless you are stopping every 100 miles or so to plug in again. However, the i3 Concept has really been designed as a city car. Since much of the gas in a regular petrol consuming vehicle is expended in round the town mileage, this car is perfect for moving around the town. Like for those trips to the grocery store, and taking the family to their activities, this car will take you there while expending very little energy along the way.

3 Benefits of an Oil Change

When was the last time you had your motor oil replaced? Whether you are a diligent and responsible driver or not, you may not know that keeping up with your recommended service dates for motor oil replacement is quite possibly one of the best things that you could do for your car. This is particularly true if you would like to maximize your car’s driving potential; and who wouldn’t, right? It is the intention of this article to provide three benefits of oil changes in an effort to help drivers understand the importance of this regular vehicle maintenance. The first and perhaps most obvious benefit of an oil change is the extension of the life of your car. In doing so, by simply ensuring that your engine oil is replaced every 3,000 to 5,000 miles, you can actually add years of drivability to the vehicle. The logic is such that routine replacement of motor oil, which is contaminated by external sources (i.e. weather conditions) during use of the car, can diminish the contamination of your engine. A clean engine will then function properly as well as not contaminate other parts of your vehicle which can contribute to faultiness or malfunction; the end result being a contamination free and properly functioning vehicle that can then be driven over a longer period of time. Another benefit of an oil change is better gas mileage. In a time with rising gas prices, who isn’t concerned about getting better gas mileage? By simply getting regular motor oil replacements, you can and will be able to obtain better gas mileage due to the fact that cleaner motor oil positively impacts the functionality of your engine and related parts of your car in order to optimize operating potential. The third benefit of an oil change is a reduction of subsequent car malfunctions or breakdowns. As we all know, it takes more than just the engine for the car to function properly. Although the motor oil is first and foremost designed to promote the functionality of the engine, it also impacts other parts that work in harmony with your engine to give you the output that we all know and appreciate as a working vehicle. Specifically, dirty or corroded oil can cause the engine to have to work harder, which then can lead to your car overheating as well as making noises, both of which can not only indicate that immediate attention is required but can also lead to a breakdown. Although tending to routine oil changes can be a frustrating nuisance for most drivers, especially those who wait in line at auto repair shops, being diligent about making sure that your car is properly maintained through regular motor oil replacements can and will prove advantageous in the long run. Specifically, not only will you be able to drive your car longer, but you will also be able to decrease car malfunctions or breakdowns as well as increase or maximize your car’s gas mileage.

Jeep Wrangler - The Ultimate SUV for the Discerning Consumer

SUVs are more than brand luxury and sophistication. Four-wheel drives
are typically the sought after model for a family car simply because
they are as efficient as they are robust. Jeeps in particular are one of
the most multifunctional four wheel drives out there, and from the
enormously popular Jeep Wrangler to the vintage class that is the
Cherokee there is plenty of choice for the most discerning buyer.

What is Certification All About?

Pre-owned cars are not just about stretching the dollar and certified
pre-owned (CPO) vehicles are increasingly recognized as the most
dependable approach to buying used cars. A number of pre-owned SUV
resellers recommend certified models for purchase since these are
covered by additional manufacturer warranties to ensure minimal
maintenance outflows in the long term. While some dealerships offer
in-house certification and inspection, most checks are routinely
performed by manufacturer-trained mechanics.

With a large proportion of buyers showing a preference for certified
models, nearly all car manufacturers have an efficient CPO program to
help keep resale standards high. The process of certification of
pre-owned models typically involves a point-by-point inspection of
specific components in keeping with stringent manufacturing definitions.
Definitions are measured against the standards set in terms of engine
performance and wear, as well as mileage stats and fuel efficiency. The
actual inspection points may vary depending on the model chosen, but in
general the vehicles are examined against a spec sheet that is outlined
by the original manufacturer.

Why Certified Vehicles are Preferable

From top-selling four-wheel automatics to the rugged but reliable Jeep
Wrangler, the reliability of an SUV is patent. Be it luxury cars or
roomy family models, buyers are increasingly judicious and astute in
making purchasing decisions. With the popularity of pre-owned models on
the rise, certified vehicles are consistently preferred over models that
do not go though preliminary checks.

While rigorous testing may not be mandatory particularly if the SUV is a
recent buy, the peace of mind that comes with picking a certified four
wheel is undeniable. In addition to actually ensuring that the vehicles
meet predetermined standards, cars that are not CPO compliant are
serviced so as to ensure that their quality markup is suitable for
reselling. Certified SUVs also come with purchase incentives including
routine maintenance workups, flexible financing and in most cases the
option to choose from a range of extended warranty plans.

Pricing Your Purchase

In general, cost is not a good factor to base a decision upon, and
pricing is best discussed once the model features and CPO scores have
been adequately scrutinized. When negotiating a pre-owned Jeep Wrangler,
it helps to recognize that the initial value depreciation is much more
during the first year of purchase. With most resellers the price points
may be somewhat negotiable, but when it comes to certified SUVs any
additional expenses toward certification is completely justified.

Whether you fancy the off-road potential of a Jeep Wrangler or the
compact design of the Jeep Liberty, the vehicle design is as important
as its performance stats and running costs. Lay the groundwork right and
the efforts will pay off in no time.

Auto Repair at Your Dealership or Local Garage

Auto repair is critical to vehicle maintenance. In order to protect the parts and longevity of its drivability, you must take the time to invest in its upkeep. This is when you can either take your vehicle to you dealership for auto repair or your local reputable garage. First, today's vehicles are equipped with so many electronic mechanisms that an old garage in your grandparents' neighborhood may not have the equipment to be able to refurbish it. However, for those in between major tune ups maintenance checks, a local garage could be the most convenient for you. Second, your dealership will have all of the latest vehicle augmentations and repair methods for your particular make and model. If you are very protective over your investment and want to continue its high level of performance, you will get a lot out of speaking with your dealership about specific restorations and parts. There are definite occasions when you will need to consult with your dealership about auto repairs. If you were recently involved in a car accident and limited production parts were damaged on or within your vehicle, your dealership would be the best place to receive help with replacing them. Also, as stated earlier, the best place to invest in upgrades for your car will be the establishment that is directly connected with the manufacturing of those parts that you desire. The option of whether to go with your dealership or your local reputable garage for routine maintenance is definitely up to your own personal taste for car treatment. Some prefer to go with their dealership all the way. Meanwhile, the basic fluids check, tire rotation and oil change is just fine in the hands of the nearby mechanical engineer. As long as you are familiar with the local garage, you know that you will be able to receive specified attention by experts in their field. If you are experiencing engine trouble and your check engine light simply will not turn off regardless of whether you recently changed the oil in it, there will be at least one mechanic on staff who can help. He will take your engine apart if he needs to in order to find out what the matter could be. If your brakes are making crazy noises and you find that your pedal is moving all the way to the floor when you apply pressure, there will be a brake specialist on staff that can service your vehicle concerns. For the individual who likes to have the specialized attention and services of dealership manufactured parts and auto repair techniques then the dealership is the way to go. However, if you have been going to your local garage for every maintenance check, tune up, and part replacement since you drove off of the dealership lot then that is what your car is used to. Frankly, regular preservation of your vehicle is what keeps it going strong for the life of your vehicle regardless of the preferred mechanic.

Where To Go For Good Truck Tracking Systems

Are you someone or do you know someone that has trouble finding places,
no matter how long you have lived in an area? Do you travel in a truck
as a function of your job and find that you have difficulty more often
than not finding your destination? If you answered yes to any one of the
previous questions, it is evident that you need a navigational system
for your truck. However, you probably have no idea where you can find
what you are looking for. It is the intention of this article to provide
viable solutions for prospective customers to find where to go for good
truck tracking systems in an effort to assist them in their search.

The first and perhaps most obvious place you can go for good truck
tracking systems is electronic retailers. These specialty stores not
only offer navigational systems for all types of vehicles, but they also
offer a wide variety which will enable your ability to locate exactly
what you want, the way you want it to look, i.e. varying styles and
brands. In addition, electronic retailers usually have either
knowledgeable sales representatives or managers that are available to
help you find a product that meets your specifications, which is
particularly beneficial for those who have no idea what they are looking
for. Another place you can go for good trucking tracking systems is the
internet. From the comfort your home, or wherever you so choose to
search, you can research tracking systems as well as compare prices.
Specifically, online auctions and classifieds are both great places to
go for navigational systems for trucks because you deal directly with
the seller and you are more likely to get a cheaper price than if you
were to go elsewhere.

The best part about online auctions is that the sellers are held to
product and service standards and therefore cannot mislead potential
customers in an effort to obtain a sale. The third place you can go for
good trucking tracking systems is big box department stores. While these
large retailers generally may carry a limited selection of models, the
price points on those in stock will probably be among the cheapest you
will find. There are many pros for purchasing your navigational systems
from a big box department store including deep discounts and sales
prices, off brands (that are sometimes even better than the popular name
brands) and awesome return policies just in case you don’t like the
product or it doesn’t work to your satisfaction.

We all have been in predicament at one time or another, where we
couldn’t find our destination and needed a navigational system. This is
true whether you are driving a car or a truck. While you may think that
it is easier to find a navigational system for your car, as it turns
out, the same is true for truck tracking systems. Specifically, you find
said navigational systems at electronic retailers, online auctions as
well as big box department stores; all of which you are likely to find
competitive pricing and products that meet your needs.

Oil Change: 6 Awesome Benefits For Your Vehicle

When was your last oil change? Don’t remember? Hey, that's not good! An
oil change involves draining old motor oil and replacing it with fresh
oil. Experts say that synthetic engine oil should be changed every 5,000
miles. Conventional engine oil should be changed every 3,000 miles.
Mechanics also recommend changing the oil filter with every oil change.
Here are 6 awesome benefits of oil changes.

Keep Your Engine Clean

Oil changes play an important role in keeping your motor clean. Like
anything else, motors function better when they are clean. Don’t let
your automobile run on dirty engine oil. This is harmful to the
environment and your vehicle. Changing the oil filter every 3,000 miles
also helps to remove impurities from the motor oil and engine.

Extend the Life of Your Engine

Changing the oil is vital to your engine’s health. Skipping oil changes
can reduce the life of your engine by tens of thousands of miles. Fresh
engine oil lubricates the parts of your engine and keeps them from
rubbing against each other and causing damage.

Improve Your Gas Mileage

If you don’t change your oil, your engine will work harder, and you will
burn more fuel. If you have a well-lubricated motor, you’ll get more
miles per gallon of gas and save cash at the gas station. On average,
replacing old engine oil with new oil improves gas mileage by a few
cents per gallon. Remember that you need fuel to make your engine run,
but you also need motor oil to keep it alive.

Reduce the Risk of Overheating

Motor oil cools your engine by carrying heat away from moving parts. If
your engine oil level is low, your car runs the risk of overheating. You
should do what you can to keep the engine from overheating, because if
it does, you could end up being stranded in the middle of nowhere. You
need to check your engine oil level frequently to make sure this does
not happen.

Oil Changes are Inexpensive

Oil changes are inexpensive and the benefits they provide make them an
important part of regular maintenance. An oil change will cost you
anywhere from $25 to $30 dollars, depending on the service center you
choose. There's no reason to wait another week. If you take pride in
your ride, contact a certified mechanic and make an appointment for your
oil change. Regularly scheduled oil changes will keep your vehicle
running smoothly- all year long!

GPS Fleet Tracking: Keep Track of Your Fleet

GPS fleet tracking has become a necessary tool to make sure that your fleet is on schedule. Many of the fleet systems today go beyond merely tracking your vehicles. They can help you determine when a vehicle needs repairs or where a stolen vehicle is located. The modern tracking systems combined with maintenance systems within the vehicle can assist in letting administrators know when the vehicle needs an oil change or other systems checked. GPS tracking allows administrators to see the vehicle's needs even when they are hundreds of miles away.Companies that have begun to lose profits can use the technology to determine the cause. Oftentimes frequent stops or idling adds up causing schedule delays. The GPS tracking system can assist administrators in seeing the exact drivers that are the least profitable. Administrators can then compare the least efficient drivers with the most efficient drivers and come up with an action plan to improve weak drivers. The systems can be helpful to make sure that your time sheets are correct. Some administrators use them to eliminate the need for paper time sheets. Administrators know exactly how long a driver has spent on the road when GPS fleet tracking systems are used. Keeping track of the time that is spent on the road is key to helping to improve profits. Some of the systems can assist administrators in knowing exactly when vehicles enter and leave specific areas. The system can be programmed to alert key people as to when a specific vehicle reaches a certain point. This keeps the administrator from having to constantly check the system. It also reduces some of the stress associated with having to be aware of specific geographic points. Since the system alerts the administrator automatically, he and she can focus on other aspects of the job. Any company that has been a victim of theft knows that they may not every recover the lost vehicle. The covert recovery systems included with some GPS fleet tracking programs can help the administrator locate a stolen vehicle. The administrator can track the vehicle and locate it or locate a trailer without the thief's knowledge. Companies that operate a fleet of cars can tell if an employee has taken the car for personal use. The company can find out if cars that are to be used for sales calls are being used for unauthorized trips. On the road the company can tell if the driver is speeding. Speed limits set by the company can help to make sure that the employee or contractor is driving at an appropriate speed and not speeding to complete jobs faster. The GPS feet tracking systems can often be customized to suit your company's individual preferences. It may be a good idea to meet with company executives and supervisors to discuss some of the data that your company needs to help run the company more efficiently. Some or all of your preferences may be incorporated into the system to make it even more useful for your company.

Oil Change: Why Are Oil Filters Important?

A filter is important, because it can keep dirt and debris from ending up in your engine and your transmission. If you do not change your filter, you may notice that your vehicle does not accelerate as well as vehicles with a clean filter. Some people get a scheduled oil change but do not get a filter at the same time. It is important to have the filter replaced because even if you get fresh lubricant, all of it may not reach the vital parts of your engine if you do not have a fresh filter and your old filter is clogged. There are several types of filters available, but a mechanic knows how to choose the best filter for your vehicle. If you do not know the type of filter that is being used in your vehicle, do not be afraid to ask the mechanic. He or she will tell you your options. Some filters are more expensive than others, but those that are more expensive may not necessarily be better. A filter that allows the lubricant to reach your engine more quickly is best.Allowing the mechanic to change your filter will also save you time and possibly money because you will not need to go and purchase the tools necessary to complete the task. Inexperienced people who attempt to perform auto maintenance risk possible injury to themselves or damage their vehicles. Most people want to know when they should have their filter changed. Consider changing it every time you get an oil change. You can also check your vehicle's maintenance guide to read the recommendations from the manufacturer. Most mechanics check the filter when they perform maintenance, and they will inform you if a new filter is recommended. If your mechanic does not normally tell you when the filter should be replaced, ask him or her to check the filter and let you know.Having your filters replaced may result in improved gas mileage in addition to improved acceleration. You can also keep your engine from wearing out more quickly, because ignoring your filter can pose the same risks as ignoring an oil change. In fact, if your filter is not replaced over a significant period of time, getting an oil change may do little good. If the filter is completely clogged, the lubricant will not reach your engine, so you will end up wasting money. If you do not have your filter replaced, do not be surprised if you find yourself needing a new engine or new parts. The next time your mechanic asks you if you would like to have your filters replaced, agree to the extra charge. If you do not pay the extra expense at the present, you will end up having to pay a much larger price in the future. Auto repairs tend to occur when you least expect them and when you are ill prepared. Keeping up with all of your auto repair needs will keep you on the road in your current vehicle longer.

Oil Change: How Do High Prices Impact Auto Maintenance?

When prices rise, some people are less likely to get a scheduled oil change. This is because the price for this valuable fluid will be impacted by the cost of maintenance. When there are conflicts over this valuable fluid, you will see an increase in the costs of fuel, but people often forget that their trips to the mechanic will also cost more. Because there are often conflicts or shortages in this lubricant, it is worthwhile to set aside money for trips to the mechanic for an oil change.Because people often do not save money for a monthly oil change, they find themselves delaying this maintenance task. Delaying this and other vital maintenance can harm an engine. If you set aside money for this and other vehicle maintenance, you are more likely to have them completed by an official mechanic. Saving money for your vehicle needs can also come in handy if your vehicle breaks down while you are on the road. From needing new tires, to needing to change a belt or spark plugs, you are likely to incur some expense as a vehicle owner.Setting aside more money than you think that you will need will reduce some of the stress that occurs when you need to complete regular maintenance needs as well as unexpected repairs that may come up due to normal wear and tear of your vehicle. It is important to fully fund your savings due to the rising costs of parts and lubricants for your automobile. You may also find yourself needing repairs in a geographic area that is more expensive than your own. Breaking down while on the road can be expensive, but it can happen. If you have a fully funded savings account, you will not be as concerned as you may be if you do not have enough money to get your repairs completed quickly.During difficult economic times, people are more likely to skip automobile maintenance. This act is likely to cost you more money than you suspect. When you do not complete scheduled maintenance tasks, you may end up needing to replace your vehicle sooner. At the very least, you are likely to need to replace some of the parts sooner than later. If you have a funded savings account for your vehicle needs, you will be able to make it through the lean times longer. It may be necessary to get a side job to keep up with all of your maintenance needs.Maintenance people will probably tell you that when prices rise, even a regular customer is less likely to get an oil change. They may also tell you that if you do not complete this task, you run the risk of causing damage to your vehicle. It will be devastating to need a new vehicle or new parts for your vehicle in a lean economy. Because you most likely need your vehicle for transportation to work and to complete chores, it is more efficient to save money and complete scheduled maintenance on time rather than skip them.

Oil Change - Extending the Life of the Engine

Every driver has seen a vehicle cruise down the road spewing blackish
exhaust and sharing an occasional backfire: that engine is whipped and
an environmental hazard to all! If proper maintenance had been
administered to that poor vehicle, an oil change done every 3-5,000
miles, the engine life of that car could have been prolonged for years
to come, possibly destined to become a “classic” in someone’s garage.

Under perfect circumstances a car or truck can go 6-7,500 miles between
oil changes, but very few drivers maintain and operate their vehicles
under “optimal circumstances”. The standard automobile is in need of an
oil change every 3-6 months or every 3-5,000 miles at the longest
without the risk of damage occurring to the bearing, journal or cylinder
wall surfaces of the engine. Most owners view fluid maintenance for
their vehicles as an afterthought, something that can be put off until a
time that is convenient to take the car in for service. The reality is
the oil filter’s job is to remove contaminates: dirt, carbon, metal
particles, and other foreign matter from the oil before damage is done
to the engine, so regular oil and filter replacement is of vital
importance.

The cost of an oil service check can range from $20-$50 (on average)
depending on the year, make and model of the vehicle; a high end foreign
make may be on the higher end, and a flex fuel or electric car may
require a special filter which may push the cost up, as well. In years
past, gas fueled cars could go as long as 6-7,500 miles between oil
changes before the risk of engine damage became a concern to the driver.
Diesel and turbo charged cars and trucks were the type that required an
oil change around 3,000 miles, due to their particular engine needs.
But today’s cars are designed to be lighter and more fuel efficient,
which comes with the new 'full-flow filtration' system: the oil pump
sends all the oil through the filter before it enters the crankshaft
bearing, cam bearing and valve train, ensuring only filtered oil enters
the engine. These filters are smaller and lighter, and the need to
perform an oil change on schedule is absolutely necessary. Newer cars
and trucks have a light that comes on (and remains on) when service is
needed. The service should include the oil, a new oil filter,
lubrication of chassis components and some businesses will also check:
transmission fluid, power steering fluid, windshield washer fluid,
antifreeze and/or coolant, tire pressure, air filter, Serpentine Belt,
wiper blades and the vehicles lights.

An oil change is more than just maintaining the vehicle’s performance
and amount of fuel consumed per mile, it is an insurance policy on the
longevity of the engine life of the car or truck. If the fluids and
lubricants are neglected, the engine can suffer damage, performance
declines and eventually the engine will seize up, and the entire engine
will need to be replaced or repaired; either way an enormous expense the
driver could have avoided with proper maintenance.

Oil Change – Should You Do it Yourself

There are lots of reasons to visit your mechanic. If there is one thing that can be a do it yourself thing it’s probably going to be an oil change. This is probably one of the most routine things you can do for maintenance on your car. It really is a simple procedure and can be done relatively quickly. There’s a reason those lube shops can get your car done in less than fifteen minutes. So do you do it yourself or do you take it in to a shop to have even the most basic of maintenance services performed? To do an oil change yourself you’ll have to have a few tools. You’ll need something to catch the excess oil in, and you’ll have to have a special wrench to remove the filter. It’s not a clean job so you don’t want to wear your working clothes to do this job. You’ll also need to find a smooth flat place to do the work. Doing it on a hill can pose all sorts of safety hazards, you need to keep this in mind. The overall process is a relatively simple one. First you’ll need to get the engine warm so that the lubricant will come out easier. Once you’ve drove the car around for a few minutes park it in that flat area that you’ve designated an oil change spot. Put on the parking brake to keep the car from rolling on you. You’ll need to locate the oil plug and use the appropriate tool to remove it. You’ll need the container underneath before you remove the plug so you don’t get it on the ground. Once it has begun to drain you can remove the filter has well. When the last has drained out then replace the plug and the filter. Refill the engine. It is really straight forward and simple. There are some things to think about though before you go get a case of oil and start doing it all yourself. For starters you have to make sure the plug is easily accessible. There are a few models in which the plug is not easy to get to and it requires special equipment. You also need to think of what you are going to do with what is drained from your engine. You can’t just throw it in the garbage, which would be a safety hazard for you, the garbage men who collect the trash, and the environment. If you take it to a mechanic then you don’t have to worry about all of these complications. There are many good reasons to do the job yourself. However, if you’re like most people, you don’t have a lot of free time to do the work. If that’s the case then you probably want to take your car to a reputable mechanic.

Auto Insurance: Cover Your Vehicle

Auto insurance is required by law in several different states. When you
are driving in busy rush hour traffic and notice a large tire in the
road, you will wish that you had coverage to protect your vehicle and
your health. You never know when an accident may occur, so it is best to
have reliable auto insurance from the first day that you drive. It is
important to have coverage to protect you when driving any vehicle.

Consult with a representative if you need help in determining the amount
of coverage that you need on the road. You will likely need coverage
that will cover an accident in which you are at fault. You will need
enough coverage to pay for damages for a vehicle that may be more
expensive than your own. Since you cannot predict the future, you may
choose to get the greatest amount of coverage that you can afford to pay
for damages for another vehicle. Of course, you want coverage that will
pay for your own medical expenses and expenses to fix your vehicle in
case you are the victim of a hit and run or if the person who hit you
does not have any coverage to protect you.

When an accident occurs, most people seek to file a claim with the other
person's provider if it is obvious that the accident was not the
drivers' fault. A police report is often necessary to provide to auto
insurance company. The company will probably ask you to take the vehicle
to a mechanic to get estimates for the repairs. You may need to take
the vehicle to mechanics approved by the company, or you may be free to
take the vehicle to your own mechanics. Some people do not mind taking
the vehicle to shops that are approved by the company, because they feel
that they will be able to get the payment for the coverage faster.

Having roadside assistance as a benefit can also be helpful if you end
up being involved in an accident. Your vehicle may not be drivable
following the accident, so you may have to call a tow truck and have
someone drive you to the repair shop. When your coverage offers this
benefit, you can call one number and have your vehicle taken to the
mechanic. You are also less likely to panic when you know exactly who to
call to help you following an accident.

Good coverage can include the use of a rental car. Most people who are
in serious accidents need a rental car if they do not have a back-up
vehicle to drive to work or take care of chores. Think about adding this
benefit to your plan, so you will not have to worry about finding the
money to pay for the rental. If you do need to pay for the rental
upfront, the plan may provide for a reimbursement. Having the use of a
rental can help you continue with your daily activities while your
vehicle is being repaired.

while riding. So in order to enjoy the ATV ride it’s essential to be
aware of all of its features and functioning.

Auto Repair for Your Car

The simplest advice on how to avoid auto repair is to have regularly scheduled maintenance performed promptly. There is no logical reason to wait to have your car serviced. If there is an emergency that steals your attention away from automotive restoration for a day or a week, it will not make a difference. However, waiting for additional months or a year can cause serious corrosive and destructive damage to your automobile. From the inside out, your car depends on you for care just as much as you depend on it for safety. Much like a lot of men and women are mistaken that their bodies are just suppose to creek and deteriorate as they age, a lot of people are mistaken about their vehicles as well. When you take excellent care of your car, you'll find that it will have an excellent operational life that extends beyond what you'd normally expect from a vehicle.Regular maintenance or auto repair includes anything that requires motion, lubricant, or filtration in order to work properly. The engine and brakes are the most common auto repair concerns because they include motion and lubrication. Motion in mechanics creates friction amongst its moving parts. For the engine, the moving parts within the engine are lubricated with motor oil to protect the parts, maintain proper pressure, and help the engine maintain the necessary temperature for smooth start up and operation. The engine also includes an oil filter that is typically replaced during your routine oil change. For the brakes, the system include pads and lubricant to ease the stopping process. Much like the engine, the brake fluid is sensitive to corrosion and loss over time. The brake pads, however, will wear progressively with use, diminishing your effortless stopping ability and therefore putting unnecessary stress on other parts of your vehicle. With the engine and brakes alone, you can see that having regular maintenance checkups and tune ups performed on your vehicle are paramount to your transportation processes and your vehicle's overall and continued health. Much like the dental cleaning commercials that suggest that the more you clean, the cleaner a surface becomes, the same is true with mechanics. The more you use clean lubricants and clean the parts of your vehicle, the smoother it will run and the easier it will be on all of the functions to move you up and down the roadways, with improved fuel economy, too.

Limo Service Rental Tips

If you are considering limo service for your next big event, there are a
number of things to keep in mind before contacting a company and
arranging the rental agreement. By making sure you are informed before
signing an agreement, you will ensure that your event needs are met and
that you get the type of limousine you desire. Many people fail to
realize how diverse the business is and that there are a wide variety of
vehicles available for every type of event.

First things first, figure out exactly what type of occasion you are
attempting to use to use a limo service. Is it a formal event or more
casual? Is it a business meeting in which you want to impress a client?
Or do you just need to impress a girl? You will also want to determine
the number of people for the limo service, how many hours you will
require the vehicle and how far you want to drive.

All of these pieces of information will be required when you first
contact a corporation about a rental. Most companies will also want to
know specific details about the event such as whether it is a wedding,
prom, concert, birthday, business meeting, or other. This helps them to
customize their service in order to ensure you and your other limousine
guests are happy and comfortable. It also enables them to suggest
options that you may not have thought of or did not know existed in
order to maximize your experience.

While shopping around for limo service in your area, it is important to
keep in mind that you usually get what you pay for. Cutting corners in
the budget may seem like a good idea up front, but may lead to
disappointing results down the road. Make sure your day and your special
occasion isn’t spoiled by spending a little more cash on the
experience. Paying more usually ensures you get very professional
service and an immaculately clean vehicle. Companies that charge a
little extra also often provide extra in terms of time and other
amenities within the vehicle.

Lastly, you want to be sure you get the right vehicle for the job. Not
all limousines are created equal. This is where all of the details about
your event and number of guests will come in handy. A vehicle that
would be appropriate for a dozen men on a bachelor’s night out might be
different than one needed for two on a romantic birthday dinner.

Jeep - Make that Vintage Cherokee Yours

From pickup to power and comfort, a Jeep is truly an intense machine
that combines performance and style. One of the most durable brands in
the automobile industry, this brand remains a coveted SUV to this day.
Given their sturdy design and consistent output levels it is surprising
how reasonable the price tag can be, and with a range of pre-owned
four-wheel drives on the market, owning a coveted SUV can be a dream
come true.

Choosing the Right Model

As a rugged four-wheel drive vehicle, the Jeep has become virtually
synonymous with the range of SUV models that find widespread usage in
the military. First introduced into the US Army as a light
reconnaissance vehicle, Jeeps soon became the vehicle of choice for
everybody from the army man to the common civilian. The takeover of the
brand by Chrysler Group and the subsequent release of consumer models
for commercial usage marked a great milestone in automobile history.

With its clear emphasis on its off-road capabilities, four-wheel drives
are as multifaceted as they are handy. From the eminently collectable
Grand Cherokee to the upscale compact that is the Jeep Compass there are
plenty of models to pick from. Regardless of whether it is a family car
you are looking for, or just a dependable SUV, the model features and
design specs will likely sway even the pickiest buyer.

Is a Pre-Owned Car for You?

Not everybody can afford that brand new shiny ride, and pre-owned cars
offer a great solution in being reasonably priced while still offering
the performance one comes to expect from an SUV. Whether you are looking
for a vintage look of the Cherokee or the contemporary feel of the
Wrangler, it takes careful research to choose the right reseller. From
examining inspection reports to analyzing extended warranty details, the
value of your purchase lies in your attention to detail.

Certified pre-owned models are often the way to go since they come with
some of the groundwork laid beforehand. Certifying a vehicle involves a
thorough inspection by a trained professional to ensure that the model
meets the manufacturer specifications and quality stats. Most certified
pre-owned programs come with a good reliability score since they offer a
degree of accountability to the original manufacturer. In addition to
certification, the vehicle history reports, maintenance and mileage
stats should be factored into your final choice of SUV.

In most cases, the price negotiations are the ultimate deciding factor,
but cost should ideally be the last criteria of consideration. With
pre-owned vehicles however, any additional costs toward certification
itself is money well spent since it is eventually about your peace of
mind.

When choosing a pre-owned Jeep, the appeal of the model not as important
as performance that can be expected out of your purchase. Investing in a
Jeep is a significant decision, and if you find one that meets your
expectations while still sticking to your budget, then you may have just
found your ideal SUV.

Oil Change: The 3 Misconceptions

How often do you get your motor oil replaced? Are you one of those drivers that get your motor oil replaced every 3000 miles or 3 months? How much do you actually know about motor oil replacement? If you are like many drivers, chances are you don't know much. Until recently, many drivers operated under the assumption that the motor oil must be replaced in a car every 3,000 miles or 3 months, whichever comes first. However, the truth of the matter is that this is not necessarily true for every car, especially if the driving frequency and conditions in which you drive tend to differ significantly. It is the intention of this article to discuss three misconceptions about oil changes in an effort to better inform drivers about proper car care. The first and arguably most important misconception about oil changes is that you don't need to have your motor oil replaced every 3,000 miles or 3 months. Gone are the days in which drivers have to get their motor oil replaced every 3,000 miles. In fact, many manufacturers recommend motor oil replacement every 5,000 miles or even 7,000 miles, depending on the make and specifications of the car. Even further, in today's society, there is no need to replace the motor oil so frequently not only because it is wasteful but also because it may not be necessary. This is especially true depending on the quality of the oil used and the frequency of your driving. Another misconception about oil changes is that you need to spend money on extra services. This couldn't be further from the truth, particularly if the extra services are superfluous in nature and not designed to enhance the performance of your car or its longevity. In fact, many of the extra services often itemized in oil replacement packages are completely unnecessary and merely cause you to spend money on services that are hardly tangible let alone useful, that is unless you actually need your car vacuumed in which case it would be advantageous to buy a package including that service. In other words, opt for the basic service and avoid paying extra for services that are not needed or you cannot verify that you are getting. The third misconception about oil changes is that all motor oil is created equal. This is definitely not true and you should be careful not to get sucked into buying motor oil that is not recommended by your car's manufacturer as failing to do so can impact the functioning and performance of your vehicle. As much as many of us don't like it, we as drivers have to inform ourselves about proper car maintenance. This is particularly true regarding information pertaining to oil change protocol that is what is necessary and what is not. Specifically, while having your motor oil replaced every 3,000 miles may be outdated and wasteful and opting for extra services during your visit to the mechanic shop is generally not necessary, it is however, important to know how often you should have your motor oil replaced as well as what type of oil is recommended for your car so as to ensure the optimization and longevity of your car.

Car Cleaning Can Make a Difference

Car cleaning can make your vehicle look good, smell better and maintain
its value. It can also keep it functioning properly, in some cases. When
brakes begin to squeak, many motorists will assume the pads, shoes,
rotors or some other mechanical issue is at fault. In reality, they just
might be dirty. If the windows are so dirty that you can't see out of
them, a collision is more likely. Think of the hassle and money saved if
you just keep your automobile tidy. Here are some tips for cleaning up
yours:

- Throw away trash: Most motorists store paperwork and mail in various
parts in their cars. Now's the time to sort through everything and throw
away what isn't necessary.

- Vacuuming: The inside of a vehicle is very hard to vacuum effectively
because there are so many nooks and crannies for debris to hide. Want to
fool the dirt? Blow it out instead of trying to suction it. Dislodge
the dirt from its hiding place through some means then get out the
trusty vacuum and show the dirt who the boss is.

- Thump with brush: Sometimes even the blowing and suctioning doesn't
get all that dirty residue out of mats and seats. In this case, thumping
them just like a person would beat a rug to clean it should do the
trick.

- Windows: The windows should be cleaned with a glass cleaner on the
inside and the outside. Be sure to dry them with soft cotton towels so
no scratching or streaking occurs.

- Steering wheel and dashboard: Wipe the steering wheel and dashboard
with damp rags. Using a soft old toothbrush or Q tip in cracks will work
wonders, too.

- Owners' manual for questionable areas: Before cleaning anything with a
cleanser that may potential damage it, check the owners' manual for
recommendations.

- Cloudy days: Washing your car on a cloudy day will be a good idea
because the sun won't have a chance to bake on cleansers so rapidly. If
it is a clear day, be sure to park it in the shade in order to keep the
sun from baking your wash-job in progress.

- Bucket with soap and water: Fill a bucket with a squirt of mild
dishwashing liquid and water. After rinsing off your auto, wipe all the
dirty spots with a soft cloth or sponge. Be careful to not scratch the
surface.

- Rinsing thoroughly: Make sure to rinse it multiple times to make sure it's sparkly pure.

- Dry quickly: If a person allows their car to air dry, water spots are
almost guaranteed to show up. It's your choice! Spotty or shiny.

- Seat belts: Seat belts can become quite grimy, especially if people
eat in the car. These can be wiped off with water or soaked in water and
a small amount of laundry soap and then rinsed with pure water.

Car cleaning can be good for the vehicle and allows the driver to feel
proud again. Your kids won't be ashamed to have you give their friends a
ride home. Passengers will be happy to ride in a pristine automobile
and all will be well in the world.

When it comes to professional auto detailing,
handling vehicles one at a time can be challenging enough. Whether it’s cleaning
RVs, family cars, or heavy vehicles, each one has its own unique cleaning needs
and challenges. Fleet maintenance and cleaning is something that can be
extremely challenging as well. When dealing with a fleet
of vehicles, it’s important the job be completed quickly but effectively.
Today, eco-friendliness has become another trend in fleet cleaning. Companies
need to pay special attention to the amount of water they use as well as the chemicals
they release into the environment during the cleaning process. Thankfully,
there are detailing machines and cleaning products available that offer fast
fleet cleaning and maintenance that is efficient and ecological as well.

A
Fine-Looking Fleet

When looking for the right auto detailing
machines for fleet maintenance, it helps to consider how important a
well-maintained fleet is to a business. A fleet of trucks or cars does not
simply transport supplies from one area to another. They also serve as
advertisements for the company itself. Fleets that are shiny and clean always
make strong and positive impressions. If a company’s trucks are habitually
dirty or shabby looking, you can be sure that this will leave a negative
impression on potential customers. Power washing units are ideal investments
for fleet maintenance as these machines can remove different kinds of dirt and
debris from a vehicle’s surface using just the power of pressurized water.

When choosing pressure washing units for auto
detailing, it’s important acquire units that feature pressure levels at or below
1500 psi. Pressure levels above this can cause damage the vehicle’s exterior.
Pressure levels of 1500 psi or less are ideal in tackling bug spatter, bird
stains, road salt, and other kinds of dirt and debris. It is also important to
look for pressure washers that have low water flow rates. Ideally, the unit
should have a water flow rate of 0.5 GPM, as this helps conserve water during
cleaning without compromising on power.

This is an important point to consider as it
can help avoid drainage fines when cleaning large fleets of vehicles.

Green
Cleaning

It’s also important to invest in auto
detailing solutions that are eco-friendly and effective as well. There are
cleaning products available that are readily biodegradable and do not pollute
the water or soil in any way. When used with car wash equipment like a car
pressure washer, these eco-friendly products penetrate and remove dirt right at
the molecular level. These green cleaning agents are ideal for a mobile car
wash as well as fleet maintenance as they clean effectively without leaving
behind harmful effluents or pollutants after cleaning.

For interior auto detailing fleet
maintenance, it is best to use carpet cleaning machines that come equipped with
low moisture technology. This kind of car wash equipment relies more on
extraction powers to remove dirt and debris. In this way, the interiors can dry
out quickly and thoroughly after cleaning. Coupled with the appropriate car
pressure washer and eco-friendly cleaning solution, these carpet cleaners
complete the necessary arsenal for an effective mobile car wash as well as
high-level fleet cleaning tasks.

The Oil Change: What Happens When You Don't Do It?

When you get behind the wheel of your own car, you know that you have to
get an oil change every three to five thousand miles. Different models
have different recommendations as to when exactly you should get this
service performed, but it is always on some kind of regular basis. Few
car owners question this. After all, the service is fairly cheap, it
doesn't take a long time, and if the manual says it should be done, then
it should be done. But what happens when you don't? Since you probably
don't want to experiment with your own car to find out the
ramifications, here is a look at what can go wrong when you neglect to
follow this time-honored advice.

First, it's important to realize what role motor oil plays in your
engine. The engine is made up of many moving parts. Like any moving
machine, it requires lubrication so friction doesn't fry the whole
thing. An engine wouldn't last long if it didn't have any oil to run on.
Eventually, the heat inside the engine would grow so great that the
parts would actually begin to melt, which would put it beyond the point
of repair. This isn't just theoretical, of course. Many a car owner has
found themselves in this position thanks to an oil change gone wrong or a
leaky pan.

So why not just make sure oil stays in the engine? What good does it do
to take old lubrication out and replace it with new oil? Well, the oil
change serves an extremely important function. Over time, the motor oil
in your car begins to pick up particles. It becomes dirty. When this
happens, what was once a viscous, but very slick fluid becomes something
more akin to sludge. If the filter gets clogged, dirt and particles
accumulate even more quickly. This will begin to take a toll on your
engine, causing the speed of the pistons to slow and your engine's power
to decrease substantially.

Eventually, an engine filled with sludge will simply stop functioning.
This can happen early on in a car's life if it is not treated to a
regular oil change. Is it necessary to take your car in for a lube job
every 3,000 miles? Maybe, maybe not. Your car isn't going to seize up if
you stretch the time period between lube jobs another thousand miles,
but don't try to make it a year without bringing it into the shop. You
could find yourself facing a nasty surprise.

You might find that you're able to walk
to most of your day-to-day destinations that you're happy to commute by bus or
even that your car provides you with all the transport you need but when some
of life's more cumbersome trips arise, you're likely to find yourself looking
around for a solution. Whether you're moving flat or planning a gig with your
band, the chances are that you're going to need a van to help you do it.

What size of van should you think about hiring? That, of
course, depends on the type of trip you need it for. Obviously, if you're only
planning to move one or two pieces of furniture you're not going to need a
lorry. On the other hand, there's nothing worse than standing in the street
with a pile of all of your possessions and realizing that there is just no way
that you are going to be able to make them fit. When it comes to moving flat or
house, there are no precise ways to make sure you're hiring the right size of
van. But if you're moving without furniture then you're sure to find a transit
van will suit.

Or maybe you want to hire a van to help you avoid big
delivery charges on new items you've bought for the home, if this is the case
you're going to want to make sure you're cutting costs as much as possible. As
vans typically scale in cost depending on size, you're going to want to make
sure that you don't choose an unnecessarily big van. When you phone to make
your booking, you can ask for the inside measurements of the van and compare it
to the measurements of your new furniture to ensure you don't end up being a
few inches short.

People also sometimes hire a van for holidays, especially if
they are planning active or adventure breaks. A small van will generally be
sufficient to store equipment such as hiking gear and skis. You may also be
looking for a longer lease for your van, and some can hire companies will hire
vans for up to a year. If this is the case, then it makes sense to sit and
project all of the conceivable uses you're planning for the vehicle to help you
choose what size you need. However, one of the best things about van hire tottenham is that you can give
it back or swap it for a different one after your lease.

Transmission Replacement - Find a Mechanic for your Major and Minor Car Needs

Your car is an important part of your life. It is what gets you from here to there and back again. If you are someone who keeps up with the maintenance of your vehicle, then a problem that requires transmission replacement may be a big blow to you. It is a very costly fix. If you have kept up with maintenance, then you likely have a good mechanic. If you do not have a mechanic, then you may be at a complete loss for what to do in a situation like this. If you are not yet in the position where you need a transmission replacement but you do not have a mechanic, then that is something you should start looking for right away. You may not know where to even start as you look for a mechanic. If you do not know much about cars, then you should think about what friends you have who do know about cars. When you choose someone, you should ask them if they can help you find a trustworthy mechanic. Sometimes just having a knowledgeable person with you will help you in your choice and help you not to be taken advantage of.Your friend may even know a good mechanic that you could go to, but even then, you should visit the mechanic yourself and see what you think. You may want to begin your search for a mechanic by looking on the internet where they might tell you how long they have been in the business as well as other details about what they do. After you look at some websites, you will want to visit the actual locations. You will want to try and talk to the manager or owner and make sure that they have good customer service. You could ask about what they charge for basic maintenance issues. When you get home from visiting the various locations, you should take the time to search for reviews of the various mechanics to see what others have to say about them.Once you have gone through these steps, you are well on your way to finding the mechanic that you need for those maintenance issues that are a given and for the more major problems like needing a transmission replacement for your vehicle. If after you choose a mechanic, you still feel uncomfortable going to a mechanic alone, it would not hurt to still ask your knowledgeable friend to come along to ensure that you are not taken advantage of.The honesty of the mechanic is very important, but you might not know whether they are lying to you or not. A clue that they could be is if you have not had any trouble with your vehicle, and this new mechanic tells you that you need a fuel pump, serpentine belt, and a starter. That might sound a little extreme, but what you should watch for is a mechanic who brings up a whole list of things to be fixed when you go in for an oil change. If you have not chosen a mechanic to help with all of your car needs, then today is the day to begin your search. You will be thankful that you did when you have a mechanic that you can trust to tell you the truth about your car.

Jeep: Why Pre-Owned Four-Wheels Make For A Better Buy

A Jeep is indeed a remarkable automobile that is as robust as it is
multifunctional. Yet investing in a brand-new four-wheel drive is a
far-fetched dream for many, and one that may well take years of planning
and forethought. Pre-owned vehicles offer a great alternative for
professionals and travel lovers who are looking for a reliable yet
reasonably priced automobile.

Why Invest in Pre-Owned Vehicles
To begin with, brand new Jeep releases come at steep on-road prices that
may well be beyond the reach of the average American. More importantly,
investing in an SUV or even a mid-sized model is a significant decision
that must take into account one’s financial standing as well as the
needs of the family as such. For instance, a family car may well be
within your reach, but if this means taking out a second mortgage it
pays to factor in the bigger picture.

In most cases concerns about the dependability of a pre-owned car may
put off potential buyers. However, given the sturdy construction and the
inherently tough design that a four-wheel drive boasts, it may come as
little surprise that Jeeps from the 80s and 90s still ply the roads. And
at possible savings of 40 to as much as 80 percent off retail prices,
investing in a pre-owned model is often worthwhile. Regardless of
whether you are looking for a second car for your family or a personal
utility vehicle for those lengthy road trips, a used auto model is the
affordable choice.

Tips to Help Pick the Right Model
Contrary to popular opinion, investing in used cars is not about chance
but about preparation and foresight. Prudent research and meticulous
planning will go a long way in ensuring that the four-wheel drive you
invest in is well worth it. Whether you have your eyes set on a Jeep
Wrangler or even an incredible Grand Cherokee, a pre-owned model may
just be what you are looking for.

Before discussing pricing options with resellers, be sure to identify
your models of choice and then discuss the technical specifications as
well as potential cons. Once you have narrowed choices, it is time to
choose the four-wheel that will offer consistent performance with a
fuel-efficient design. This means analyzing the nuances from the
engine’s horsepower and acceleration stats to fuel consumption and
mileage.

Being that you are looking at a pre-owned Jeep it also makes sense to
get a brief usage history, including the miles travelled, the typical
usage pattern as well as any significant points of concern. Since
resellers typically subject most pre-owned vehicles to a thorough review
and refurbish, it is likely that any external wear and tear has already
been taken care of. Regardless, it still makes sense to perform your
own cursory checks and possibly test drive the model to better assess
the minutiae.

Investing in a pre-owned Jeep is a significant decision, and the primary
goal is to maximize your purchasing power without foregoing performance
or class. Research the range of models on offer and be sure to discuss
pros and cons with a reliable reseller to ensure that your four-wheel
delivers on its promises.

Oil Change - More Than Mileage

Many drivers complain about the relationship between mileage calculation
and the time for a recommended oil change. Manufacturer recommendations
for a once a year, 3000, 5000, or 10,000 mile lubricant replacement are
predominately seen as too often, and rarely seen as too long of a wait?
So let’s address the driver with the sludge in his engine. Quite often
the response is based on lack of information about the significant role
clean lubricant plays in the collaborative function of the engine and
overall drivability of a vehicle. Second to that would be past
experience with their older or less dependable car because many drivers
tend to put off this vital maintenance for other automobile concerns.
Third on the list of excuses is that I don’t have one of those 3,000
mile check up cars so I can push it to the end of the year or every two
years or so.

The fact is that the oil change mileage recommendation given is just a
method of measurement to estimate good timing for an exchange. The
actual measuring stick for when to perform this maintenance is the type
of motor lubricant used. The life of the lubricant is really the issue
because the engine can only successfully perform its functions under the
proper temperature, fluidity, and pressure conditions – to put it
simply.

Much like the oil change recommendation in your manufacturer’s manual
there is also a type of lubricant recommendation as well. The main
objective with the lubricant options available for different vehicles
and driving use is to accommodate the engine processes from start up and
throughout operation. It is well known that thinner lubricants work
particularly well for cold engine start up. In the colder months, most
of engine wear occurs at the start up point, so having the lubricant to
do this job keeps vehicles in better working condition for longer.
However, thicker lubricants help to keep engines cooler in the warmer
months for reduced lubricant consumption during use and easier
drivability. This warmer/colder temperature comparison is why it is
useful to switch the lubricant in your vehicle to one that is suitable
for the best performance for your engine and therefore your entire
vehicle.

The objective behind oil change should be the health of your vehicle. It
may not be the best suggestion for you to only listen to manufacturer’s
recommendations or to follow past experience when it comes to the inner
workings of your vehicle. The engine’s functions are dependent upon the
lubricant you choose and the lubricant you choose is dependent upon the
temperature of your region. There are motor lubricants that offer the
combined benefits of the thin fluidity with the thick components to
offer the best performance product for your vehicle. It is up to you to
maintain its productivity with a regular exchange according to vehicle
and climate conditions, not necessarily mileage or time.

Oil Change and Other Car Tips

An oil change is very important to the overall health of your car
because the engine is its most vital part. Motor oil that does not
properly clean and lubricate the engine parts will eventually render the
car useless. The engine is also one of the most expensive parts of a
vehicle, and once it has become ineffective, there is no way to avoid an
expensive car repair; and it is not uncommon for engine repairs to cost
more than what the car is worth. While it is obvious that frequent oil
changes are important to the vehicle's longevity, there are some other
maintenance needs that will also keep the car running more efficiently
and help the owner to avoid the cost of other repairs. This is why many
repair shops will offer a money-saving maintenance package, which
includes other maintenance checks. A tire rotation is one of the most
popular maintenance options when taking the vehicle to a shop for an oil
change. Getting a tire rotation is a good way to help avoid the cost of
getting new tires more often than needed. A set of new tires is
typically designed to last for up to 50,000 miles. Unfortunately, many
car owners will need new tires much sooner because they do not get a
tire rotation. Many times the tread on the front tires will wear down
more quickly than the back tires. Rotating the tires allows them to wear
more evenly, which helps to increase their overall longevity. The
purpose of a brake check is two-fold. While the braking system is a very
important safety mechanism, it is also very expensive to repair.
Therefore, a brake check can help to diagnose early problems within the
system, which allows the owner to avoid costly repairs when a minor fix
eventually becomes a big problem.

As a car owner, if you are diligent about frequent checking of your
vehicles fluids, you should also be diligent about your car's other
maintenance needs. Luckily, many repair shops will perform these other
maintenance needs as a courtesy to their customers. Rotating the tires
and checking the brakes are just a few examples of how you can avoid an
expensive car repair bill, and even a dangerous situation.
